Visakhapatnam Confederation of Indian Industry organised a conference on HR & industrial relations focusing on theme 'Realigning the Business with Strategic HR Practice and Innovative Technology in Post Pandemic' in virtual mode.

Delivering a keynote address at inaugural session,

Prof. M. Chandrasekhar Director, Indian Institute of Management–Visakhapatnam said that Covid-19 pandemic has created a disruption with opportunity. It has eroded the human capital, but he felt that one has to work with yesterday's logic to continue their business operations.

Referring to the implications of pandemic on human resources, he mentioned that industry and academia has an opportunity to build better for future. The pandemic represent opportunity to build a prosperous future, he added.

Referring to work from home in post-pandemic he said that organisations have shown greater resilience to continue their business. He was of the view that there is a need to provide resources, freedom and flexibility to employees operating from home. Self entrusted workers will be emerging phenomena in post pandemic scenario.

Prof. Chandrasekhar emphasised that there is a need to build digital skills among the organizations.

He urged enterprises to encourage innovation among employees. The industry-institutes can collaborate together to promote innovation. Uberisation of skills is an emerging trend in the current pandemic times, he felt.

Sharing industry perspective,

ES Chakravarthy, Vice President & Global Head–RMG, Tata Consultancy Services said that it is necessary to manage future of talent management for organizations. Continuously monitoring the health of employees became important in the Covid times.

Sharing his views on work from home, he said that employees need to have hyper communicative and collaborative skills. It is equally important to collaborate with other teams to complete the given tasks successfully. He mentioned that Covid-19 has brought all individual come together during the period of uncertainty. There is a need to train individual to solve complex problems in the organizations.

Datla Tirupathi Raju, Chairman, CII Andhra Pradesh & Executive Chairman, Vijay Nagar Biotech Pvt Ltd said that industry has helped the communities around their companies during the pandemic.

Deb Kalyan Mohanty, Chairman, CII Visakhapatnam Zone & Chairman and Managing Director (incharge), Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd highlighted the six HR trends emerging in Covid-19 times. The trends include remote work, employees health, critical skills and employment brand.

R Kishore, Vice Chairman, CII Visakhapatnam Zone & CEO and Director, Vizag Seaport Pvt Ltd delivered concluding remarks at the session.
